Dr. Shabir Ahmad

Vice Dean, College of Business

Biography:

Dr. Shabir Ahmad serves as the Vice Dean of the College of Business and Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at Al-Yamamah University, Al Khobar Campus. He brings over 20 years of diverse experience in academia and industry, having worked with reputable international institutions across Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan.

Before joining Al-Yamamah University, Dr. Shabir served at the College of Business Administration, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), where he held several key roles. He coordinated the Department of Management and chaired its Curriculum Committee, leading the successful development of new undergraduate programs in Supply Chain Management and Human Resource Management. He also taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate management courses and supervised numerous student projects.

In addition, Dr. Shabir played a significant role in quality assurance and accreditation efforts. He chaired the Quality Qualification Committee for AACSB Standard 3 and contributed as a member of various NCAAA-related quality committees. He also served as Head of the Examination Control Committee for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Shabir taught at the College of Business Administration at Jazan University. His industry experience includes roles as a Project Manager at Interactive Group in Pakistan and as a Sales Manager at Auriga Holdings in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Shabir earned his Ph.D. in Strategic Management with distinction from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2019. His doctoral research, titled “The Role of Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility and the Mediating Effect of Innovation Capability on Corporate Sustainable Longevity in Family Firms,” received the Merit Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis at UTM. He also holds an MBA in International Business from Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the London School of Commerce (UK), and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Peshawar (Pakistan).

As an active researcher, Dr. Shabir has published extensively in ISI- and Scopus-indexed journals and presented at peer-reviewed conferences, including the Academy of Management Annual Meeting. His work appears in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Family Business Management, SAGE Open, the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, and the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, among others. He also serves as a reviewer and article editor for several reputable academic journals.
