Dr. Shabir Ahmad

Assistant Professor of Management

Biography:

Dr. Shabir Ahmad is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the Department of Management, College of Business Administration, Al-Yamamah University Al Khobar Campus.

Dr. Shabir has 20 years of experience in academia and industry with various reputable international institutions in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan. Before joining Al-Yamamah University, Dr. Shabir worked for the College of Business Administration at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU). During his time at IAU, he served as coordinator for the department of Management. He led the departmental curriculum committee and successfully developed new undergraduate Management programs in Supply Chain Management and Human Resource Management, in addition to teaching various Management subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervising students. Dr. Shabir also chaired the Quality Qualification Committee for Standard 3 of AACSB and served as a member of various NCAAA related Quality Committees. In addition, Dr. Shabir served as the head of the Examination Control Committee for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Previously, he taught at the College of Business Administration, Jazan University. Before that, he worked in the industry as a Project Manager at Interactive Group, Pakistan, and as a Sales Manager at Auriga Holdings, United Kingdom.

Dr. Shabir received a Ph.D. in Strategic Management with distinction from University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2019. His Ph.D. thesis on “The Role of Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility and Mediating Effect of Innovation Capability on Corporate Sustainable Longevity in Family Firms” won the “Merit Award for outstanding Ph.D. Thesis, UTM, Malaysia 2019”.

In 2006, he received his MBA in International Business from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, a postgraduate diploma in Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the London School of Commerce in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Peshawar Pakistan.

In terms of research, he is an active researcher who has recently published articles in ISI and Scopus-indexed journals as well as peer-reviewed conferences such as the Academy of Management Proceedings. His work has appeared in several prestigious journals, including the Journal of Family Business Management, Sage Open, the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, and the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, to name a few. He is also an active reviewer and article editor for reputable journals.
